WW2 began 84 years ago today (September 1).  My father was sitting in the Polish Brygidky prison in L’viv for Ukrainian nationalism. My mother, fleeing Russian repression and genocide in Ukraine, was studying at the Bauman Engineering Institute in Moscow. They met 3 years later in Ukraine under German Gestapo occupation. Exactly 10 years later on 1-IX-1949, as a married couple, they steamed past the Statue of Liberty into NY harbor on the former troop transport ship USS General House. 

Exactly the SAME horrors are occurring in Ukraine RIGHT NOW.
