Bishop James Sullivan of Fargo, North Dakota [bio]

James Stephen Sullivan was born 23 July 1929 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. As Catholic bishop of Fargo, North Dakota, Bishop Sullivan was appointed on 2 April 1985, and was installed on May 30 of the same year. He succeeded Bishop Justin A. Driscoll, who died 19 November 1984.

Bishop Sullivan retired on 18 March 2002 and resided in the rectory of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in north Fargo until moving to “Rosewood on Broadway”, a religious nonmedical healthcare institution in the spring of 2006. Bishop Emeritus Sullivan died at Rosewood of complications from Alzheimer’s Disease on 12 June 2006.
